Dill...No...Don't...Shoe...Meow!!!

Here's a funny video showcasing (again) Helena tormenting Dill. And, also getting really mad that he might, maybe be messing with her shoe.

Those two are endless entertainment. Here's another one of her making most of the animal sounds she knows. You might have to use a bit of your imagination with some of them.

In other Helena news, today was picture day at daycare. Helena was the only one out of 35 kids who freaked out and wouldn't let the photographer get a shot of her. Jeez. And I bought her a new sweater, combed her hair into two cute pigtails this morning and everything for it! Oh well. We'll just chalk it up to a grumpy day, I guess. Hopefully she gets over it by the time she has real school pictures.

It's about time I showcased the much improved video camera Ash got me for Christmas, huh?

Skiing Mini Break

We've been busy with the first in a string of visitors this winter/spring-- Ash's Aunt Barb and Tony came out to check out the S-L-C and do some skiing.

We headed to The Canyons in Park City on Thursday. Wow, talk about a big resort. It was massive! Overwhelming. But awesome. Highlight for me was skiing through a mini neighborhood of $10 million houses. It was totally crazy.

Friday we hit up the Alta resort closer to Salt Lake. The last time Ash and I skiied there it was in a complete blizzard, so the beautiful blue skies definitely left us with a better taste of the place this time around. Tony pushed our skiing abilities to the limit...encouraging and taunting us to go down black diamonds. After an unfortunate hiking through knee deep snow episode, I decided to take the black diamond plunge before Ashford. I succeeded, and am still very proud of myself. The next day Aunt Barb & I stayed home with Helena (we were too sore to ski anyway probably) and Tony & Ash hit up Solitude resort. Ash rented some shorter skiis and they hit the black diamonds all day long. Look out! We're going to be pros by next winter!

It was really fun to hang with Barb and Tony and we were really glad they came out to visit AND gave us a reason to treat ourselves to a mini-break on the slopes.

I'll try to post some pics if Barb will e-mail them to me. :) I suck, I forgot my camera both days we were out.

Can you say Oquirrhs?

The view from my office window of the valley and Oquirrh Mountains.

Even the natives say it seems like we live on the moon sometimes.

Cooped Up with a Cuss Jar

We had another pretty uneventful weekend here in SLC. Helena has been semi-sick since Thursday (cough, weird vomiting episode-- but she's OK) so we've just been laying low this week.

In the midst of my boredom and when Ash & I weren't glued to the couch watching on demand episodes of Weeds (holy crap that show is SO GOOD!), I did decide to make Ash start contributing some serious cash to a 'cuss jar' before our little budding talker becomes a mini Andrew Dice Clay. Behold...the jar 24 hours after the official rules were instated:

The rules are one dollar per cuss word while Helena is awake. Haven't agreed on where the cash is going to go, but Helena's college fund is probably the top contender. Oh, and only two bucks of that is mine, by the way. And no you're eyes aren't deceiving you, there are some five spots in there.

I'd also like to share some of Ash's proposals to amend the rules:
1. Cussing while driving shouldn't count. Because who doesn't cuss when they drive!?!
2. Cuss jar funds should go to a new flat screen TV. (Ummm....NO!)
3. When discussing generally toning down his language (for instance, at work), he replied: "Um, I have to vent at some point or I'll die!"
4. When Helena says one, we get a dollar back.

I'll let you all know when she quits saying 'shit' when we hit a bump in the road in the car.

P.S.- Helena is eating ravioli in the background there, not bleeding to death or anything. :)

Roll Call!

OK kids. I'm almost up to 3,000 hits on my blog. And I know probably 2,000 of them are my parents checking this thing, but what we're going to do today is have a little roll call. I want to know who all is out there for god's sake!

Here's what you do...just leave a comment if you're reading this. So very easy. And if you don't have a blogger account, just click the 'anonymous' choice and sign your name after your comment. Also easy. Look, it's not so bad.

Oh, and just for fun when you're commenting tell me what you had for breakfast this morning. Random, I know, but it's my blog and I can do what I want.

Me: Honey wheat bagel with cream cheese and some coffee. Go!
