Media Funnies

This is the kind of stuff that makes front page news in Utah:

http://www.ksl.com/?sid=19248440

Hilarious.  And I really can't think of another area of the country where these types of things would actually be 'news'.  It was a multi-day story, even.

And in other mormon media, behold a (what I deem bizarre) billboard not too far from my house:

Sorry for the graininess (I took it with my phone from my car)-- the billboard reads: "CSI: PROVO Decaffeinated DNA." Apparently a play now showing nearby.

After a quick google search, turns out this show is a parody of life in Utah.  Whew.  I thought it was for real.  Would that surprise anyone?!?

Ahhh, Utah.  You're funny.

Gagging on Champagne?!?

This happened to me once when I was pregnant with Helena, but it was a screwdriver, not a mimosa.

From the Salt Lake Tribune this week:
West Valley City Mayor Michael Winder proudly wears his LDS religion on his sleeve and even presented President Barack Obama with a copy of his book, Presidents & Prophets: The Story of America’s Presidents and the LDS Church, when he was in Washington, D.C., earlier this year with the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
During a breakfast meeting with the mayors and the president, Winder grabbed a glass of orange juice, began to drink and then gag.
When he asked why the juice was so terrible, he was told it was a mimosa, a mixture of champaign and orange juice.
So, the first time alcohol passed Winder’s lips was an event sponsored by a liberal Democratic president.
Some other mayors got a laugh at Winder’s expense. Noticing his dilemma, one said, "Hey you can counter the alcohol with coffee. Oh, wait, you can’t drink that either, can you?"
Where else in the world would this little tidbit even make the paper?  Hilarious.  And I love how the columnist can't even spell champagne correctly.  10 bucks says they've never had champagne or champaign either.

CNN's getting snarky!

Have you all seen this? On cnn.com you can now order t-shirts featuring a certain headline of the day. Just click on the t-shirt icon when it appears to the right of the headline and BAM!, you can pick your own size, color, everything!

I find it interesting that this 'promotion' will possibly encourage the online news writers to come up with funny and witty headlines instead of the most informative headline, all to sell some t-shirts. Now, I'm all about ironic/funny/witty but I was under the impression CNN considered itself a pretty serious news organization. Although, after browsing all of the options, not all of the headlines are funny to me. I guess maybe I'm not getting the joke.

That said, I am getting ready to place my order for a small, black shirt that says "Victoria's Secret sued for thong injury."

Thoughts?
